    NATIONAL CONVENTION, MELBOURNE

TS members at the National Convention, Melbourne, January 2006

Over 115 TS members registered for the National Convention of the TS in Australia, held in Melbourne, 14-21 January 2006. The Guest Speaker was Dr Anna Alomes, from the Centre of Applied Philosophy and Ethics at the University of Tasmania and the World Institute for Non-Violence and Reconciliation. The theme was 'Universal Responsibility, Non-Violence and Peace'. She gave a well attended talk at the Melbourne Theosophical Society on 'Icons of Peace in the 21st Century', recalling the outstanding contributions of M. K. Gandhi, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. She also conducted two workshops during the Convention: 'Dissolving Barriers/Removing Boundaries Through Non-Violence' and 'A Personal Toolkit for Peacebuilding.'
